seattle cyclocross
last week i photographed a cyclocross race at woodland park in seattle. it was a cold, rainy morning, but the energy and enthusiasm of the riders actually made me forget how numb my fingers and toes were! i loved the colors of all the team jerseys and bikes, especially in the context of this beautiful wooded course. and the motion and movement of the athletes was beautiful to capture. one unique aspect of cyclocross is the hurdles that the riders have to jump over while carrying their bikes, which makes it a great spectator sport. and the way that these riders embrace mud is just amazing to me. there is also an element of eccentricity to the entire sport, as seen in the (nearly) naked and heavily tattooed rider- what fun! i am already looking forward to more cyclocross!
